Autumn is a good time to plant them. They grow easily, but you have to put hay between them for them not getting dirty. Also, they need fertiliser in order to carry good strawberries.

You plant strawberries I believe in the late winter months (the end of February) or the very first of Spring (beginning in March). It really depends on the weather. If it's not to cold or snowing they can germinate great in the month of February. That will give them plenty of time to grow and be ready for harvest in May.

Summer fruiting strawberries can be planted in early September or early April. Perpetual strawberries should be planted in mid April. It's not hard to grow your own strawberries.

Strawberries are very difficult to grow from seeds. People say you can grow them in a pot, that is not true, it is almost impossible to do so due to limited amounts of space. I would plant them in the ground, probably in the early spring to early summer time.
