The standard disposal unit is too bulky to carry around. Take along a used prescription bottle, test strip canister or an empty vitamin bottle. Label it clearly in case, for any reason, it becomes separated from you. Gather the used sharps in that container while traveling, then when you return home, dispose of them as you normally do.

You should get a travel sized sharps container. If you can find a hospital or somewhere to dump the used sharps before you get home do that. If you can't bring them home and throw them out.

The easiest way to dispose of sharps while traveling is to purchase a sharps travel and disposal kit. This will allow you to safely store and dispose of your sharps. You can also ask the staff at your place of lodging. They may be able to provide you with a sharps disposal container.
