The English pronouns are the only place where English still changes forms based on usage. One would use "She" when the word is the subject or when it follows a linking verb. One would use her when the word is a possessor, object of a preposition, direct object or indirect object.

She and Her are both pronouns. Use She as the subject of a sentence. Use HER as the object of a sentence or to show possession. For example. "Tracey is great. She is a good person. I don't like her, though. Her cat peed on my new coat. "

Use "she" for the person doing something. (She is going home. She and I like each other. She believes it. ) Use "her" for the person to whom something is done. (He kissed her. I gave it to her. ) Good question! A person who uses these correctly sounds much better educated.

It is appropriate to use the pronoun "she" when referring to a female as the subject of a sentence ("She put the book on the table). " The word "her" is used when the female is the object of an action ("John gave the book to her"), or when used to describe to whom an item belongs (her book).
