While various natural items have been used for dental hygiene in many parts of the world for centuries, the first prototype resembling a modern toothbrush was developed in England in the late 1700s. Toothbrushes as we know them were first made by the DuPont company in 1938.

The toothbrush was invented in 1938. The bristles were made of boar hair. One of the first people to patent the toothbrush was H. N Wadsworth. Oh thank-you Mr. Wadsworth for giving a white shiny clean.
