I'd need to know what kind of moth and where you live. The royal walnut moth is found from Massachusetts to Missouri, down into northern Tx and Florida. A species of the amazing Luna Moth, the Polyphemus, has an orange mix body and is found all over the country- I saw 6 of them this season in New England.

These moths are common to states having large orange groves like Florida and California. Of course they get their orange coloration from sucking oranges for their juice. It is not uncommon to observe these pests doing just that while flying around the groves clutching an orange.
