Batman defends Gotham City from evil. It ranges from commeon pick pocketers and thugs to maniacal super villains. Some of the super villains he has faced over the years include the Joker, Ra's Al Ghul, the Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Catwoman, Bane, Scarecrow, the Riddler, King Tut, Hush, Mr. ZsasZ and Phantasm.

Batmans main enemy was always the Joker. Others included The Riddler, and The Penguin as well as Mr. Freeze, but the joker was always his main enemy. The joker wore a purple suit and had green hair.

Batman had many enemies, especially in the original TV series. There was the Riddler (comedian Frank Gorshin), the Joker (Cesar Romero), the Penguin (Burgess Meredith), and Cat Woman (Julie Newmar was the first and had a sexual attraction with Batman). Other Cat Women on the TV series are Eartha Kitt and Lee Meriwether.
