Dogs are hunters by instinct. It's natural for them to want to hunt rabbits. They most likely want to eat them.

Because that's what dogs do! They love to chase small animals that run-it's instinctive in them. Bunnies smell good, and run, so dogs chase them. They can smell the bunnies in the holes, and want to catch them.

As much as we love our dogs and treat them as family members, they are still animals with animal nature. Dogs are natural predators, and they love hunting. This is the same behavior that leads them to chase a stick or shake the life out of a favorite toy. Your dogs try to catch bunnies because they enjoy hunting.

In the end, you have to remember that your dog is a predator and a carnivore. Sure, they've been domesticated for centuries, but the instinct to hunt is still there. The bunnies are a convenient target for your dogs' instincts.

Just like any other animal dogs see bunnies as FOOD. I would suggest putting chicken wire on the floor of the bunny enclosure and cover with hay. This will 1) stop your bunnies from diiging out and 2) stop the dogs from getting in. They are animals and they will try anything and everything.
