The 2 fans on the caravan are necessary for the cooling system to function properly. One fan stays on all the time to provide cooling for the vehicle. the other fan comes on when additional cooling is necessary (ie: when is is hot outside and when running the air conditioning.)

The radiator is not tall enough for a fan large enough to adequately cool the engine. Therefore, two fans are used. Each one is small enough to fit the radiator height and can be placed side by side to pull more air through the radiator and cool a larger section of the radiator

They put two fans on some of the newer cars because it consistently cools down the motor. They are also a safety feature so you are less likely to overheat and possibly catch a fire under the hood. Also if one of them ever goes bad you have another one for backup just incase.

Typically there are two smaller fans used when no possible to fit one larger fan. Sometimes two separate fans are used so that the can be used separately or together depending on cooling needs. Making it less draining on the electrical system.

There are probably two fans on the new Caravans to keep the motor from over heating. It is good because if one stops working you will still have one working.

Do you mean two radiator fans? I imagine they're powered by electric motors. Two electric fans is a pretty conventional setup for modern vehicles. Two small fans can cover more area of the radiator than a single large fan, therefore they can more effectively cool the engine.

The reasons for two fans are quite simple. One is to cool the engine when it reaches temps higher than intended like a regular belt driven clutch fan and the other is to pull air across the condenser of the air conditioner when it is turned on and placing additional heat in front of the radiator.

When you pop the hood and look straight down you should see a big metal bar running from one fender to the other. On the engine side of this bar you should see your radiator and to big black humps. Under the humps are where your two fans will be located.
