Actually, God did not test Job. Satan caused these trials, and God allowed it to happen. It is difficult to understand God's reasons for allowing these things to happen, but He has promised that He is causing all things to work together for our good and His glory.

It was an agreement betwen Satan and God. Satan told God his most loyal follower would turn against him if tested by him, so God tested Job.

God tested Job because Job was asking for it. He was bedeviled by questions of whether he would be as subservient to God if he wasn't already such a blessed man.

Some prefer to say that God trusted Job, in fact God did not test Job he allowed the devil to do so. He was trying to prove that his loyal servant would remain faithful to him regardless of what happened to him.

God told Job to go minister. He sought to avoid his fate. God then tested him to his limits, such that he would willingly accept his fate.

For many reasons. One was to test Job & make him stronger. Nothing happens that first doesn't pass through God so Satan was not in control. He did it to show Satan that he couldn't break Job. Job was the most righteous man on earth at the time.
