Your arms ache due to normal muscle breakdown. You'll notice more achiness the next day after you have done heavier work then normal. When you are lifting items that are heavier then you are used to you muscles will literally tear and breakdown. Your body will place amino acids in your muscles to heal them and ultimatley make them stronger.

If you are doing some sort of physical activity on a frequent basis, this could cause your pain. If you think it is something serious, you should probably go to the doctor and have him look about it.

You could have pulled, torn or broken a tendon or muscle. I would go to your doctor and get an x-ray. Perhaps they can treat it with something, or just rest it.

The causes of arm aches can be attributed to either muscle, bone, nerve, or circulation problems. Depending on your age, activity level, weight, and any underlying medical conditions, the source of the pain can be found. Most commonly, both arms hurting can be a result of muscle or nerve problems.
