Cats are known to be finicky eaters, however, it is abnormal for a cat to not eat at all. Decreased appetite is generally a sign of illness or injury. Possible reasons may include intestinal parasites, oral ulcers, gum disease, ingested foreign body, cancer, or urinary blockage. It is best to have your cat examined by a veterinarian.

If your cat is not eating it could have a serious problem, the worst being feline flu. She could be sick and should be taken to the vet. However, some cats are just picky and wont eat because they do not like their food. They can be very stubborn about this.

Cats may not eat if they are ill, if they have recently eaten or they have a problem with a tooth. If your cat does not eat for more than one day, it would be wise to take it to the vet for an evaluation of any possible problem that may be present.

The most likely reason is the cat is sick and needs to be seen by a vet. It's also possible if your cat is allowed outdoors that it's feeding on birds or mice or may even been eating at a neighbors house.

Cats frequently lose their appetites completely when they are sick. Often times the cause can be found when a cat is infected with parasites. A veterinarian should be seen.
