Dogs like squeaky toys because of the interaction from the toy. The dog thinks that the squeaky toy is reacting to the dog biting or pawing at it.

Dogs are predators, that means they kill things, your dog is killing the toy. The squeak mimics the sound of a distressed animal and your dog is tearing it up until it stops squeaking, or in his mind dies. This feeds a dogs "prey" drive which is one of a few drives dogs have. Others include, pack, food, and fear.

Here's an example of civilization mimicking the wild... dogs like they high pitched noise because on a primal level, it reminds them of the sound at the end of a successful rodent hunt. That's satisfying, as is the chewy factor. And the fact that you've given him something of his own that he's allowed to gnaw on at will!

Simply because its a crazy noise. Dog will rip them apart to get to the actual squeak of the toy, but most of them are pretty cheap. Try a sturdier squeaky toy.
