Why do I have a fuzzy coating on my ice maker tray?

Humidity from the open air gets in to the freezer every time you open and close the freezer door. This air once it gets cold in the freezer condenses in to water droplets, then in to ice crystals which look basically like snowflakes. These gather on the coldest parts of the freezer first, such as the ice maker tray.

That is just frost. The air in the freezer has water vapor in it. The colder surface attract the water and it creates a very fine layer of ice crystals.

You are getting that coating because there is too much moisture in your freezer. This normally occurs when you open your freezer door too much or if you leave it open too long.

You have a serious problem there, my friend. That coating is probably bacteria and you could get very sick using the ice from that tray. Sick to the point of death. You need to clean those trays right away and then check and make sure your freezer is working properly. Bacteria should not grow in a freezer.

the reason your ice tray have an fuzzy coating is because every time you ice tray makes ice there are little pieces os ic that freeze together
