Why do I have swollen and painful feet, ankles and calves?

I haven't done anything out of the ordinary lately but they are very swollen.

This depends on age and gender. If you are a female of childbearing age, this could be edema caused by early pregnancy. If middle-aged, it could be a sign of osteoarthritis. It could also be caused by poor circulation, a risk increased by diabetes and heart disease. If any of these cases apply to you, see a doctor.

Swollen and painful feet may be due to mosquito bite. People affected by filariasis may also have the complaint explained in your doubt. Usually blood is taken during late night and tested to find whether you have an attack of filariasis. If detected early, nothing to worry.
