Why does IKEA have some lame names for their furniture?

some of the names are really negative sounding in english, like i think i saw "dorka" and "lack." you'd think that they would have a marketing staff that would make sure that the names worked well in other languages?

Many people in Sweden speak english, so I think that someone on their staff knows the connotations of these words. I think all of this is intentional, and they are trying to add a little charm to their names. Not sure how well it is working, but they are trying.

Not all the furniture has dorky names. Most equipment for example is names Besta, a very appealing name for consumers. Some names however slipped through the name cracks.
