The odometer uses an electrical pickup that could be bad, or the wiring console on the dash. The odometer has little to do with the function of the car except for the onboard mileage computer. The problem is best taken care of at a shop or dealer.

The odometer is made up of three main parts: head, the thing you look at. Cable/wire - to the transmission. Gear/Sensor - in the transmission. It sounds like the odometer is broken and should be replaced with a new one from an auto parts store of your choice and make sure they don't break anything.

Because your speed sensor may be faulty. Usually your speedometer will also be acting funny when you have a bad speed sensor. That is the only diagnoses for a speed sensor- they will not throw a check engine light. I hope that I have been of some help to you.

well that depends on what "crazy" means. chances are you probably have an electrical problem or you dash panel is going to need replacement.

It sounds like your odometer is broken. You should replace it with a new one from an auto parts store of your choice. You are going to have to go into the dash and make sure you don't break anything.

odometers are a hard thing to work on. the problem is that when an odometer is tampered with it is easy to tell. you probably have to have it done.

The speed sensor is probably bad at the transmission. This is the cheapest place to start. If that doesnt fix it then its the instrument cluster.

My used Honda Odyssey (2005) did not come with a couple of parts, which the dealer has offered to order. However, I'm having trouble getting them to look up the right part number for one piece and would like help finding the right part number to avoid having to go into the dealership just to order the item.
