This has been the company's policy since inception. The founder was a man on faith and he wanted to run his organization as a christian based business. It only made sense to close on Sunday, as it is a day of worship. This also allows all employees to spend quality time with they families.

Chik-Fil-A was originally closed on Sunday as part of the "Blue Sunday" laws requiring non-essential businesses to be closed on Sunday, as well as the religious beliefs of the owner. The current reason Chik-Fil-A is closed on Sundays is to give employees a day off on the weekend to be with family or for religious reasons.

The founder, Truett Cathy, wanted to make sure that all his employees had at least one day to spend with family, away from the concerns of business.

Founder's Official Message: Our decision to close on sunday was our way of honoring God and directing our attention to things more important than our business.
