Why is my 7.3 Powerstroke running bad after running out of fuel?

A lot of times after you run an engine out of fuel they will run poorly. The biggest reason for this is buildup of things on the bottom of the fuel tank. When you ran it out of fuel all of the buildup in teh gas tank will then get pulled into the engine.

Well if you ran out of fuel you could have either damaged the fuel pump or caused air to get pulled into the line. Try purging the line of air.

a lot of vehicles fuel pumps are cooled by the fuel. if it runs out of gas the fuel pump in the tank may have been damaged/
