Is the cat scratching the area? Consider allergies (environmental or food) or insects (a tick, fleas, or mites). Rarely autoimmune conditions can cause hair loss. Or, if the cat is female and has been in heat it is possible that a male cat pulled out the hair while "having his way" with her.

The reason could be because your cat has an allergy or a skin condition. Cats can also get Mersa which can cause then to lose hair and is also contagious to humans. Perhaps your cat has an injury which would also cause him to lose hair.

There could be many reasons. It could signify ringworm, a skin infection, an allergy or irritant. It is best to take the cat to the veterinarian to get checked out as some of the above cannot be determined or treated without veterinary care. It is usually easy to treat and the vet usually knows the subtle differences between the causes.

Either a collar has rubbed the fur off, the cat is scratching the back of their neck, or they're rubbing it, like going under a fence.

Could be a number of reasons. He could have gotten into a fight and the other cat pulled it out, it could be ring worm, he could also just be stressed. Is it sore? or itchy? or swollen? If it doesn't grow back shortly i'd get him vet checked to make sure it's not ring worm.

Is it possible that your cat could be pulling out its own hair? Sometimes they will do this during times of stress. If not, have the vet check her for tapeworms or other organisms.
