Your A/C unit's compressor is probably worn out. It probably just needs to be recharged (you can pick up a kit at AutoZone, Wal-Mart, etc. ), which isn't a complicated procedure. If that doesn't work, it likely needs to be replaced.

If you car is very old than more than likely your refrigerant has leaked out. Take it to a shop so they can check for leaks, convert it, and then refill it as needed. It that doesn't help then you may have a problem with the system like a bad compressor or control switch.

The air conditioning unit in your car will circulate air anytime the car is on, however the unit will only cool the air when the car is in drive and running. The other challenge you may be experiencing is that you do not have enough freon in the unit.

It is most likely low on freon. It is recommended to take it to a shop, but you can do it yourself if you do a small amount of research.

As the heater is fixed probably it is not causing the problem. Do check the AC doors and adjacent vacuum to it.

Your air conditioner isn't cold because of the temperature outside. It happens with me often. Another reason could be that you have leaky window or doors. Also check for air conditioner gas. Perhaps you may have to refill them.

Terrible answer. A/C units are SUPPOSED to work when it\'s hot outside. Leaks in the car\'s cabin wouldn\'t keep the air from the vents from being cool. And A/C \"gas\" is called freon and isn\'t \"refilled. \" It\'s recharged.  add a comment
