Can opossums see well?

Their vision varies with the time of day. Opossums are nocturnal creatures, and have pretty good night vision. However, their eyes do not handle light at all well. Thus, in daylight, they are very nearly blind. At night, though, they are able to see as well as most other animals.

The eyes are specially adapted so that opossums can see well at twilight and during the night. The Virginia opossum is a marsupial, which has thrived, despite competition with what are considered to be more advanced mammals. The Virginian opossum is very adaptable and can cope readily with sudden changes to its environment, including widespread human settlements
