First pick one scrapbook you would like to start. Start with say a wedding scrapbook or one from your child's first year of school. Keep the scope of the project narrow so you do not get overwhelmed. Gather photos and other keepsakes then go to the craft stores for paper, stickers and other decorations.

The easiest way to start with scrapbooking is to buy a photo album that has the plastic covers over each page. Then you simply have to apply your photos to each page and add personal touches, such as stickers, and slip the page back into place within the plastic.

Start Slow. Go to the store and find 5 pieces of paper you like. Find 5 pictures. Play around with what you have. Add one new page a week.

Start with a specific subject such as your last vacation or your child's birthday party. Choose your favorite pictures. Go to Michael's or Hobby Lobby and pick out stickers, lettering and related decorative items that go with your subject, along with appropriate scrapbook paper. Then, as in any book, start with the beginning of the event and go forward.
