The type of immobilization you choose (boot or cast) should not affect the healing time. Both methods keep the broken region from moving.

The traetment of fractured fibula is done by casting in the first wait for at least six weeks and removing the cast if pain persists do booting if necessary.

It depends on the break you have, but a doctor can reccomend to you if a cast or boot is better for the healing of a fractured fibula depending on your particular case. Usually, a cast is best because it provides the most stability.

A cast is the better treatment. The cast will stabilize the fibula so that it isn't jarred in moving about or in an accidental bump. You should notice a difference shortly after the cast is applied.

You would have to go in for treatment, because only a doctor can tell you the best treatmen. Don't let it go untreated. I think they would say the cast would be the best, but not really sure. Consult your doctor though. That is what doctors are there for. Hope this helps.
