Usual side effects from taking oral contraceptives are nausea, breast tenderness, weight gain, break through bleeding, mood swings, head aches, no period, increase or decrease in acne, loss or decreased sex drive and depression are a few. Photosensitivity is not a usual side effect but every person is different. Talk to your physician about any unusual side effects.

Yes! Some oral birth control pills are found to cause photosensitivity or sun allergy. Better to ask your doctor whether the medicine prescribed to you may cause photosensitivity.
