You are correct in the original Flintstones episodes in the sixties was a small creature called the Great Gazoo. He was a rude little alien who could only be seen by Fred and Barney. He possessed magical powers and often helped both Fred and Barney through whatever mess they got themselves into.

He is not actually a martian, but there is a little green man from another planet. His name is the Great Gazoo. Gazoo comes from the planet Zatox. He appeared about halfway through the last season of the show.

There is! His name is the great gazoo. He arrives in a little spaceship, and helps Fred, whom he refers to as Dum-dum, with his special powers. Usually, something goes wrong and Fred needs to be rescued by Wilma. In many ways he acts like a bemused genie,popping in and out of the story whenever necessary.

There is a martian Character in the Flinstones and his name is Kazoo. He grants them wishes but most time it causes them problems.
