My dog seems to have something in her ear. When I scratch it, I hear something that may be wax or water. What should I do?

There are many things you could damage attempting to remove things from any animals ear. Take her to a vet. If you attempt to remove anything from inside your dogs ear yourself, you could inadvertently cause her to lose some or all of her hearing, not to mention how much pain could be caused.

Clean the ear with cotton balls (not q-tips) and hydrogen peroxide. Look for redness in the ear canal. Try this for three days and if conditions do not improve take you dog to the vet.

If the ears droop, air cannot get to them to dry them out. GENTLY swab them, careful, don't go to far in the ear canal. There are commercial products to help clean and dry the ears. If the dog is scratching them, see a veterinarian for causes and prescription products.

Peroxide is used to clean the ear canal safely. I would suggest trying this or taking your beloved pet to the vet.
