Obstipation is just like constipation.Except with cats the bowels are completely blocked.So you must treat it differently.All signs and symptoms are the same as constipation.If the obstipation is not treated the cat can develop Megacolon.This means fecal matter remains in the colon and becomes even drier. As a result, the colon becomes filled with waste almost as hard as concrete.

Obstipation is constipation that has gotten much worse and the cat cannot pass anything at all because of the hardness of the feces. Treatment by a veterinarian is often necessary.

Obstipation is when constipation becomes a chronic, often dangerous situation. This requires vet intervention, often IV hydration, intervention under anaesthesia, and you will need to consult the vet to modify your cat's diet. Symptoms will be the same as constipation, with hard, black stools, but the cat will be in much more serious distress and stop evacuating entirely.

You should take your cat to the vet if it isn't able to pass stool for a day or more. Being constantly constipated can cause serious problems if not treated.

This is constipation that can have been possible by the cat eating something that could not be digested and resulting in not have a proper stool.
