Crayfish are not particular when it comes to their feeding time. They will eat anything, dead or alive and are always searching. Nighttime is the main feeding time. Turtle food is a good choice for "pet" crayfish. It contains more nutrients and contains mostly fish. Their diet needs other stuff, too, such as meat, veggies, and plenty of water.

Everyday the crayfish should be fed leafy greens like romaine lettuce, dried seaweed, or shrimp pellets. Crayfish occasionally eat animal protein so any animal product should be given in portions. Also one must remove the excess food from the cage. The crayfish are typically not a threat tot he other fish in the environment unless it remains unfed.

A crayfish will eat regular fish food. They also eat all kinds of things such as aquatic plants, snails, insects, tadpoles, and small feeder fish. Some owners tried minnows and frozens peas which they seemed to enjoy alot. I recommend feeding them everything but the fish food because they do not receive enough nutrients from the fish food.
