Ibuprofen is better because it is an anti-inflammatory medicine that also works as an analgesic. Te be exact, it is classified as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or NSAID for short. It reduces fever and alleviates the aches and pains that go along with it. Tylenol only has analgesic effects to reduce pain.

Both of these drugs are anti-pyretics and may be appropriate for a fever. Ibuprofen also reduces inflammation which may be an advantage in some cases. Some people have illnesses or take medications that mean they should not take one but may take the other. Ask your doctor if you are concerned about this.

Acetaminophen ( Tylenol) is best for a fever as there is no chance of bleeding in the stomach , something ibuprofen can cause. Follow doctor's orders for proper dosage.

Acetaminophen is easier on the stomach than ibuprofen, & may be the better choice for some. Either medication will help fever though. Ibuprofen has anti-inflammatory properties but EAT before administration.
