When the pectoral muscle is torn try to apply heat for 20 minutes and then ice for 20 minutes. So this at these specific intervals. Now, if the pectoral muscle has been actually torn away from the bone then you will have to have surgery to repair the torn muscle.

If the injury is severe and you have torn the pec muscle away from the bone, surgery is required to reattach the muscle. If no surgery is required, alternating heat and ice will ease the muscle strain and bruising. Alternating ice and heat for 20 minute intervals is recommended.

The pecs or pectoralis major is a thick fan-shaped muscle situated in chest. A varriety of exercises can be used to ton up the pecs such as bench press using dumbels or barbells, push ups, flyes using dumbells, cable crossovers or dips. Press exercises are better for building the mass while fly and crossovers are more suited for shaping.

If applying ice and limiting use doesn't help the torn pec muscle to get better (I assume you mean a "torn" pec muscle, not a "ton" pec muscle,) surgery may be necessary. Try ice and limiting use, and if the problem persists see a doctor or physical therapist.
