What makes muscles sore when you start working out?

There are two things that cause soreness. The first is a buildup of lactic acid. This is one of the reasons you need to cool down and stretch after exercise. The second is the actual muscle cells tearing and then the repair. This is what increases size.

What makes muscles sore is based on your body being moved in ways and putting pressure on areas that are not use dto being put in that position.

The build up of lactic acid causes muscles to feel as though they have been damaged, and the repair process makes your muscles stronger. That's what makes them sore.

Muscles become sore for many reasons when you start working out. The first is neglect to stretch and warm up. When muscles become under stress after along period of rest they become inflamed (Sore) This is why Stretching is important. Another reason is not working out correctly. You could be working the muscles the wrong way
