Why does a man pull away after he gets intimate and talks of the future?

Men are afraid of commitment. Once couples start discussing the future of their relationship men feel like they are trapped and that their women think next comes the wedding. In an effort to keep things fresh the man attempts to create space by pulling away.

He may feel the magnitude of the topics he just discussed. Making a commitment is a big step, and he may be feeling overwhelmed and need some time to think.
