Well they are actually very good for preserving the cold winter air that comes out. It is basically the same as any other modern window treatment. However, they cost more.

Palladian windows are typically tall windows with an arch at the top - sometimes looking like a half circle window on top of a traditional rectangle. Window treatments can either go up around the curve, or more commonly, cut straight across the rectangular portion of the window.
